Welcome to the website for the Society of Northern Ohio Professional Photographers – commonly known as simply SONOPP. SONOPP began under the name of the Cleveland Society of Professional Photographers in the year 1949. At that time, local photographers wanted to form a professional photographic association to allow photographers to network with each other, to share tips and experiences, to train new photographers in the profession, and to help consumers in selecting the right photographer for their needs. SONOPP is the oldest organization of its kind in all of Ohio and is seen as a leader amongst professional photographic associations. For over fifty years, the finest photographers in Northern Ohio have been proud to be included in its membership rolls. The same is still true today. In an age where anyone with a digital camera and a business card can “claim” to be a professional photographer, SONOPP members truly are a cut above the rest. Through monthly educational programs, SONOPP members have the opportunity to study and learn the latest technologies and photographic styles. Guest speakers are brought in from around the nation to keep SONOPP members current and cutting edge.
